Our directors are a diverse group of talented, passionate people from around the world. We have nine elected positions from across the global Engineers Without Borders movement and two appointed positions.
Sanjiv Indran, President
EWB Malaysia
An avid traveler, cinephile and life-long Star Wars Geek, Sanjiv Indran is the current President of Engineers without Borders Malaysia. He is a Principal Consultant at a boutique management consulting firm, and co-founded EWB Malaysia in the hopes of inspiring and empowering the next generation to help build a sustainable future.
Karl Ove Ingebrigtsen, Elected board member
EWB Norway
Karl Ove is born in Norway and is living outside Oslo, the capital of Norway. Karl Ove has been engaged in the EWB-Norway Board since 2019 and Chairman since 2021. His background is mechanical engineer and management. 20 years as international manager for consulting companies focusing on management of risk for preventing loss of life in the industry and in public transportation.
Emmanuelle Sallin, Elected board member
EWB Switzerland
Emmanuelle is a structural engineer with a passion for bridge design. Active with Engineers Without Borders Switzerland since 2016 and on the board since 2020, she values teamwork and diversity. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the mountains and travelling.
Julia Inés Roitman, Appointed board member
EWB International
Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Julia Inés Roitman Gil is a lawyer specialized in Public International Law and a graduate of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. As a human rights activist, Julia’s work has centred on sexual and reproductive rights, youth participation in decision-making and transitional justice.
Rajeev Lal, Elected board member
EWB India
Rajeev Lal has a two-decade-long association with EWB-India, and serves as a Director on its Board. His extensive background in the information technology sector spans leadership roles held across multiple companies and professional bodies. Within EWB-India, Rajeev plays a leading role in conducting annual events and championing Project Based Learning in Student Chapters, aimed at uplifting marginalized sections of society. He actively engages in workshops organized by EWB International.
Chikondi Gurrira, Elected board member
EWB South Africa
An experienced leader in the engineering sector, with a strong background in Agricultural Engineering, Chikondi has successfully managed national and Africa-wide voluntary engineering societies. Chikondi’s career includes collaboration with government departments, parastatals, private sector entities, and nonprofit organisations to deliver impactful engineering projects. Focusing on civil and agricultural engineering in KwaZulu-Natal, she has partnered with diverse stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions addressing community needs.
Peter Nzabanita, Elected board member
EWB East Africa
Peter S Nzabanita, Executive Director of EWB East Africa in Uganda, has 20+ years in community engineering. He holds a Master’s in Water and Sanitation, a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, and diplomas in Building Construction Engineering and Water Engineering. Passionate about leveraging local knowledge for sustainable impact, he advances SDGs through innovative engineering solutions.
Raymond Lopinski, Elected board member
EWB Hong Kong
Raymond has worked for global companies (various industries), travelled to over 60 countries and responsible for operational services in developing and developed countries. This diverse breadth of experience has taught Raymond to articulate and develop strategic visions and deliver operationally in a local context.
Angeline Tan, Elected board member
EWB Singapore
Civil Engineering trained (MEng) from Imperial College London, with a passion for humanitarian engineering, statistics, operational research, computational mechanics, computational algorithms and numerical computing.
Kapil Dev Regmi, Elected board member
EWB Nepal
Mr. Regmi founded Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Nepal during the 2021 lockdown which has been one of the fastest growing Social Sectors Institutions in Nepal. As President of stars Alumni Nepal, he is working on global-local partnerships. Additionally, he is involved in education, cerebral palsy support, and Nepal immigration initiatives.

Katie Cresswell-Maynard, Executive Director
EWB International
Previously the CEO of Engineers Without Borders UK, Katie has been involved in Engineers Without Borders ever since she first learnt about the movement during her engineering undergraduate degree in 2004. She has worked at global engineering consultancy Arup in the cities and climate change team, and participated in advisory committees shaping future fit engineering skills.
EWB International
Joachim is a trained civil engineer and project manager. He is passionate about collaborative problem solving and has been active in various engineering-related NGOs since 2014, both in Germany and in the USA. Concurrent to his role at EWB International, Joachim is a project manager in the German infrastructure construction industry.
Aisling Cashell, Member Support Volunteer

Aisling is a dedicated civil, structural, and environmental engineer with a passion for creating positive change. She first became involved with Engineers Without Borders during her undergraduate degree and now volunteers with EWB-International as Member Support. Currently working in the environmental sector, she aspires to contribute her skills to meaningful projects that drive positive change in sustainable development and climate-resilient design. Aisling embodies a commitment to making a difference in the engineering and development sector.
Charlotte Trick, External Affairs Consultant
EWB International
Charlotte specialises in external affairs, collaborating with organisations across the social sector to deliver projects encompassing brand development, communication strategy, digital transformation, event management, and facilitation. Her clients include Mind and Clore Social Leadership.
Kelson Conteh, Storytelling Volunteer
EWB International
Kelson specialises in digital content creation. He has a background in journalism and has experience writing for different audiences, from fashion marketing to working on the international affairs desk at the European Parliament. Currently, Kelson DJs in Japan while teaching and working in marketing and events.
