We’re pleased to welcome Katie Cresswell-Maynard as the new secretariat and executive director of EWB International.
Katie’s most recent post has been as chief executive of EWB-UK, a role she has held for the last four years and during which time she also served on the Board of Engineers Without Borders International.
She comes with significant experience and insight of the Engineers Without Borders movement, first getting involved 15 years ago and most recently championing a number of initiatives across the international network. These include initiating and convening the working group that delivered our open letter and building a partnership across Engineers Without Borders UK, South Africa and USA to deliver the Engineering for People Design Challenge to undergraduate engineers in those three countries, broadening their awareness of the social, environmental and economic implications of their engineering design. During her time at Engineers Without Borders UK, Katie delivered a new strategy for the organisation built around a clear articulation of the difference engineers can make to ensure a safe and just future for all by embedding global responsibility at the heart of engineering, a strategy the organisation is now mobilising on.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity that Engineers Without Borders International opens up. The global Engineers Without Borders movement has presence in every major global region across multiple countries, that’s a phenomenal potential to challenge outdated international operating models and instead build on our existing strength to champion equitable collaboration. I truly believe that we can deliver greater positive change for people around the world by bringing our global community together, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
We’re looking forward to having Katie on the team, driving EWB International towards success.
