"The beginning of wisdom is the
admission of one's own lack of knowledge. As long as we think we
know, when in fact we do not, we shall continue to go to the
poor and demonstrate to them all the marvelous things they could
do if they were already rich...Find out what people do and help
them do it better." (E.F. Schumacher)

The
Humanitarian Engineers' Registry
(Version 4.1)
provides a link between those in needs and those who
could
provide services, technologies, and solutions to
eradicate poverty in communities around the world. The
registry was
created as a dire need to help the various communities
affected by the Tsunami on December 26, 2004. It is also
used for all reconstruction and humanitarian
projects
around the world.
Access to the registry is free and
open to individuals
interested in registering their skills for the benefit
of others and to organizations involved in poverty
reduction. The registry list includes professionals
(active and retired), students (in their junior or
senior years with experience only), NGOs, humanitarian
organizations, etc. The registry is
provided as a free service from the EWB-I network
and was designed by Greg Willson.
It is also a work in progress and its functionality is
expected to improve over time.
Disclaimer: EWB-I is not responsible for the
completeness and the accuracy of the registry. Further,
it does not certify or warrant the credentials,
competency, and skill level of those listed in the
registry. The credentials of all volunteers must be
carefully checked by organizations and/or individuals
seeking help.
Reminder: This
registry should be used for the sole purpose it was
created for, i.e. create a link between those in needs
and those who can respond to the needs. It should not be
used to distribute spam and advertise commercial
products or services. Unauthorized use of this registry
is illegal.
Questions, comments and
suggestions to improve the registry and requests for
posting messages for distribution to the registry
recipients can
be sent to Greg Willson and
Bernard Amadei.
